A recent opinion piece about the controversial Hiroshi Sugimoto-led revitalisation of the Hirshhorn Museum’s Sculpture Garden omitted essential details about its historic significance and the critical need for maintenance and management. Most importantly, the Sculpture Garden, located on the National Mall in Washington, DC, and designed by architect Gordon Bunshaft (in 1974) and landscape architect Lester Collins (in 1981), is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places and is part of the National Mall Historic District. WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - The Smithsonian has announced it will reopen 10 of its museums throughout the summer, marking a full reopening of the Smithsonian since closing to the public in March 2020.
These locations will open on a staggered schedule from June through August. All museums will reopen with added health and safety measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic and many with reduced hours of operation. Visitors will need to reserve free, timed-entry passes for most locations. ....

.- Entre ciel et terre is Sean Scullys first exhibition at Thaddaeus Ropac, opening in the Paris Marais gallery on April 24th. Created for the most part during the pandemic, the paintings suggest a connection with nature and an inner world of memory in troubled times.
The exhibition will present for the first time Sean Scullys new Mirroring series. Painted in oil on aluminium, the large-scale works are divided into two sets of colour stripes that mirror each other with variations. Between each colour field, the artist has left the metal surface apparent. The overall composition with the rhythm of the horizontal bands bring to mind the pages of a book or a musical score.
