BENTON, La. Bossier Parish will remain in the business of picking up certain trash and debris at no charge to homeowners. But parameters will be established to determine what will qualify for removal.
Members of the police jury voted Wednesday to accept recommendations from the Road/Subdivision Regulations Committee approving continued service that began as massive cleanup campaigns following floods in 2015 and 2016, tornadoes and a hurricane.
Committee Chairman Glenn Benton of District 2 said the Police Jury has already spent just over $10,000 this year to dispose of items that have been picked up by the highway departmentâs crews.
âAnd that number does not include labor and equipment costs,â Benton said. âWe need to extend this service beyond the emergencies because if we donât, there will be items dumped on abandoned roads all over the parish.â

COLUMBIA, S.C. Since the start of the pandemic, the City of Columbia’s indoor recreational facilities have been closed to the public. Now they’re gearing up to reopen on May 3.
City officials say as they prep and clean their facilities before opening, their number one goal is safety. Social distancing will be in place, Assistant City Manager Henry Simons told News19. We will also follow any capacity issues per facility based on the fire marshal’s request.
