They had been lobbied for weeks to abandon Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. But ultimately, only two members of the electoral college did so, while five members deserted Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
It was the largest number of individual defections by electors in a U.S. presidential election but not enough to change the outcome.

Oklahomaâs seven Republican Presidential electors will cast their ballots for incumbent President Donald Trump shortly after 10 a.m. Monday.
Unlike 60 years ago when a âfaithless electorâ didnât vote as pledged, itâs doubtful any of this yearâs GOP electors will vote for anyone other than Trump, who carried the state in the Nov. 3 election with 65 percent of the vote compared with Democratic rival and President-elect Joe Bidenâs 32 percent.
âWeâre proud Republicans, and we were elected as electors by the Republican Party,â Chris Martin, a state GOP committeeman from Yukon said. âYou know what we think. Thereâs nothing really mysterious about us.â ....
