Kidnapped mother is released in Mexico two weeks after son was found abandoned by Texas border agent

Meylin Obregón was released by her captors in northern Mexico on Wednesday 
The Nicaraguan mother and her son Wilton Obregón were abducted in late March an hour after they were deported from the U.S. for illegal crossing border
The 30-year-old woman told Univision that the kidnappers told her it was not in their best interests to continue to hold her captive
She plans to turn herself in to U.S. immigration officials at the Mexico-United States border and formally apply for asylum 
Meylin Obregón reportedly fled Nicaragua because she had been repeatedly beaten by Lázaro Gutiérrez, the father of her two children
