on doors to see if anyone is home, and when no one answers, they break in grabbing whatever they can find. but tuesday morning things didn't go as planned when the owners were still at home. this is the video from debbie's ring doorbell camera tuesday morning. >> he stands really close to the door. i think so maybe you can't see his face. he stands really close like this. >> reporter: debbie was getting ready for work so she didn't answer the door. even after he knocks multiple times. eventually the man leaves. >> 4 minutes later is when they come back and kick in the door. >> reporter: 4 men rush into the house, grabbing an x box from her son's room and her purse from the counter. that's when debbie came out of the bedroom and saw the men. >> i just yelled robbers! and um, so my husband then came out of the bathroom and just started chasing them. >> reporter: the 4 men ran out of the house and took off in a waiting car. the entire ordeal >> it was incredibly fast. >> reporter: debbie says one of the scariest parts was the force they used to kick in the door. >> this entire section was torn off. >> reporter: she says she's thankful no one was seriously injured and credits her faith for protecting her family. >> it happened exactly the way it was supposed to happen, so that's where i see god's hand in it all. >> reporter: so far the police haven't released information about suspects or arrests in the case. they do suggest if someone knocks on the door, leave the door closed and locked, but answer it so they know someone is home. also security cameras and a home alarm system could help. in pleasant hill, katie nielsen, kpix 5. developing story in san jose, an explosion and fire at an abandoned home. firefighters say one man who was inside was seen running away from the ile won fire. he was eventually sent to the hospital and being treated tonight. neighbors on north 18th street called police when they heard a loud boom. >> we were at home eating dinner. heard a very large explosion. honestly thought maybe it was a vehicle hitting a house the way it rocked the house. we looked out the window and saw the flames in the backyard. >> the fire was put out in about 20 minutes. it's still too early to tell the cause, but they're investigating whether squatters were occupying the home. right now another flight carrying americans americans evacuated from the coronavirus outbreak area in china is headed to travis air force base. it's expected to land overnight to refuel and then continue on to nebraska. over 100 are already on the base being monitored for 2 weeks. while health officials say the risk in the bay area is low, we're hearing more stories of coronavirus discrimination, including a woman allegedly shunned by a lyft driver at sfo. joe vazquez spoke to some locals who say they've been profiled. >> reporter: fear over the coronavirus has turned to some disturbing behavior. >> definitely had some people like feeling like if you cough they'll kind of look at you strangely. i know everyone is concerned about coronavirus, but again, you know, there are all sorts of carriers now too. it's not just the chinese looking people. >> reporter: lyft confirms tonight that one r drivers no longer with the ride share company. a woman who's asian tweeted the driver refused to open his door before her white friend approached, then he demanded to know if they were coming from china. the driver went on to insist that both lyft and uber drivers are refusing rides to anyone that looks asian or had an asian name. >> that's not right. there's no proof she had it. >> reporter: and listen to this bart rider. >> i sat down and immediately a gentleman looked up from his mobile device and ran to the next car. i have my korean friends, japanese friends, everyone is experiencing this right now. >> reporter: right now the san francisco office is issuing statements about discrimination. >> i know it doesn't feel good, and i would just ask that people be more considerate. >> there are no cases here in san francisco. >> reporter: people who are afraid should look at the facts this doctor says. this map shows the illness worldwide. more than 30,000 cases in china. in this country, there are 12 coronavirus cases. and by the way, tens of thousands of fatal flu cases. if the lyft driver saw someone that looks asian and he didn't let them in, it's one thing. could having and sneezing could be another thing right? >> perhaps. but the risk of coronavirus, because we know that at this point there are no cases in san francisco, there's nowhere he could get it from a person. >> reporter: joe vazquez, kpix 5. >> 16 state labs in california are now certified to testify for the coronavirus, including this one in richmond. samples previously had to be sent to atlanta. test results should take about 2 days, down from a week. meanwhile doctors at ucsf are working with mammoth bio sciences in south san francisco to create a simple coronavirus test that will hopefully be available for use at walk in clinics. a human trafficking bust in santa clara county leads to more than a dozen arrests and at least one reunion. officers from milpitas, san jose, and sunnyvale teamed up with the district attorney's office for a three-day sweep. during that time the task force arrested 16 suspected johns, 1 suspected pimp, and they recovered 5 human trafficking victims. the team was also able to reunite one of the victims with her family. new details tonight on a disturbing discovery at a preschool on the peninsula. on sunday morning, a teacher at milbray nursery school found 5 mutilated chickens near the coop next to the playground. tonight police confirm someone let the chickens out and they were killed by a dog. they're not ruling out the possibility that someone broke into the school and let the chickens out. more potential problems uncovered near the ignition point of the deadliest fire in california history. pg&e is still operating an aging power line in butte county no less than 100 yards from the line that sparked the camp fire in 2018. that is according to an expert who was hired by lawyers for the victims. the inspector found a line with rusty equipment and parts held in place only by electrical tape. pg&e says they looked into the potential problems and didn't find any immediate safety issues. campaign 2020 now, the democratic presidential contenders are in new hampshire making their pitches to voters ahead of the nation's first primary. >> and tonight final results from the iowa caucuses have been announced. part to help the bay area housing supply. they just signed off on a policy to build affordable homes along their tracks. they have only 2 sites that could accommodate housing near the mountain view and redwood city stations. the policy would require 30 percent of each housing development to offer below market rent. neither of the sites have a specific proposal yet. the city of fremont is literally moving mountains tonight to block overnight parking in front of some billion dollar businesses. crews rolled boulders into place today near sea gate where people have been parking and living
