The 355 review: a powerhouse cast in a weaksauce Mission: Impossible riff

Mr. and Mrs. Smith writer Simon Kinberg seems to have conceived the international spy movie as a female-fronted version of the Jason Bourne, Mission: Impossible, and James Bond franchises all rolled into one. But even with Jessica Chastain, Diane Kruger, Penélope Cruz, Lupita Nyong’o, and Fan Bingbing fighting as a team, a weak story and cheap filmmaking drag the movie down. In theaters Jan. 6.
