security breach at a bay area airport. this time at sfo. and police say the suspect even made it on to her run way. officers arrested this morning 42-year-old aid drawnna -- adriano monterroso-santas, thursday evening. she's in jail and due to be tried on misdemeanor charges next month. investigators believe she was homeless and living in a shelter when she tried to stow away an plane. police claim adriano monterroso-santas ran on to a runway, waving her arms at a play. she wanted to return to guatemala, her home country, and hoped to smoke on a plenty. she also told police she got the idea from the teen who snuck into the wheel well of a plane from san jose to hawaii last april. that 15-year-old, yayha abdi somehow survived the trip. and despite very little oxygen and frigid temperatures. these security breaches worry some passengers. >> after the whole 911 thing i think everyone is a little bit weary of what can happen at an airport and on a plane. that just shows that pretty much anything can happen. >> the latest incident comes after this woman marilyn hartmann, was caught trying to sneak on to seven different planes at sfo and four times at other airports. she claimed to be homeless and was recommended for mental health treatment. napa police went to serve a search warrant and ended up shooting a man to death. investigators are trying to figure out what happened. sergio quintana tells us more. >> a couple hours after the shooting a motorcycle was still lying in the middle of the street. a witness tells me off-camera the man riding that bike sped away from this house a few yards from the shooting scene. according to the napa police chief, officers were trying to serve a search warrant for drugs and weapons. >> they served the search warrant for a 41-year-old male. the shooting ensues. the police chef tells us that officers found a handgun at the shooting scene, but it's not yet clear if the suspect pulled the gun or fired a shot. we talked with a neighbor who was on her front porch when she heard the commotion. >> he was an motorcycle and they were like chasing him. i didn't see anything but i heard three shots. >> officers with the city of napa were involved in the shooting. so as part of standard procedure the officers of the sheriff's department took over the investigation. the name of the person shot has not been released. abc7 news. >> santa clara county deputies are reviewing their jail security one week after a suspected child molester overpowered a guard and got away and escaped. carter was classified as a minimum security inmate and only one guard was guarding him on the out-of-jail trip. crimestoppers upped their reward to $6,000 for information leading to his arrest. the fbi tells abc7 news it could be monday before they release any information on a raid on a home in san jose. agents went into the home early yesterday and hauled out boxes putting them into advance and trucks parked outside. the recording industry of america said they participated in the raid, indicating it likely involved pirated music. >> otherwise been three years sincere lamar disappeared. the 15-year-old vanished while walking to her bus stop. the officials said they will only search when new tips come in. a man has been arrest bud her body has not been found. san jose police want to find the young people who beat and severely injured a teenage boy outside a busy shopping mall. the teenager remains sedated as doctors try to figure out if he has any permanent brain damage. we have the story. >> he clearly had gotten conscious. his legs moved and arms moved. he struggled. it was hard to watch because he's clearly disoriented and in pain. >> once christian rasner is fully awake, doctors will test to see if he has permanent brain damage. his dad said he was beaten and his head slammed against the pavement by two young men in the bank of america parking lot near the westfield valley fair mall. it's in san jose. his friends said the men were harassing him in the mall asking christian what gang he is in. he is not in a gang. he's on the honor roll. >> the only thing preventing me from going to find them myself is i want to be here for my son. police said they have surveillance images of the suspects in the mall but no cameras are in the parking lot. >> we all have kids or grandkids and you always worry something like that can happen to somebody who doesn't deserve it. >> he believes his son is not the only victim. >> there's been stories told around, similar gang-related activities at malls in the bay area. again, i don't have any empirical facts but anecdotally i've been told that a couple times. >> he said young people should be vigilant at all times and tell mall security if anyone is bothering them. in san jose, abc7 news. >> 6:06 is the time. >> the water scientists have dire news for california. we have just one year of water left. the scientist says water storage in thes water basin could be gone in a year and the backup supply groundwater will also be gone soon. he believes that the state has to start mandatory water rationing and needs to speed up a ground water sustainability plan. if you are farmers are offered up to $71 million for their water. rice farmers in the ski resort men toe valley said the price offered is so high, they can make more from selling water than from growing rice. fraternity brother. advocates say the latest sexual assault case is part of an ongoing problem on campuses across america. abc7 news reporter janet o. has the story from berkeley. >> police say the sexual assault happened here at alpha epees will be pi last month. the 21-year-old faces two felony charges for lewd acts, including trying to grope his fraternity brother during his sleep. he will be back in court next week. >> we expect at that time we will enter a not guilty plea. mr. sheerer has already passed the polygraph. one of the preeminent polygraphers in the area. we are waiting for all the evidence to play out and i expect he will be exonerated. >> he goes on to criticizing the university for a lack of due process in handling the case. u.c. berkeley says they have been proactive in trying to help both the accused and victim, but adds more could be done. >> at the end of the day we have one survivor advocate for 30,000 students. that ratio doesn't make sense. a small office trying to do investigations for the whole campus. >> we were kind aback taken aback like the whole country was. >> he said university nationwide still do a poor job of handling sexual assault cases. >> it went from sexual assault victims to survivors and now activists. >> his latest documentary, "the hunting ground" is playing here. it is centered around an infamous florida state rape case, involving a star quarterback. >> most are not handling it properly. the first in stings is to cover it up because they are worried about their reputation. the film has resulted in more victims at berkeley and other campuses alike to speak out. >> the university completely botched my case. it was a serial assaulter who assaulted me and one other victim. >> both victim and one accused. both are calling for the school to protect their rights and more transparency. in berkeley. abc7 news. >> there's hope in san jose talk over police pensions and benefits could conclude next week. at a ceremony to honor new officers the mayor said it's time to settle the issue. in 2012, 70% of voters passed the b option. it requires them to pay more toward their police requirement. but some say it causes others to look to neighboring agencies for better benefits. ricardo said his office is looking at alternative strategies to implement pension reform. >> i'm looking forward to finding a way to make sure sure that the intent of the voters is fully protected at the same time that we find a way to settle all of these issues. >> today i will deliver the state of the city address for the first time as mayor. it's at 10:00 a.m. at independence high school. the man accused in a shooting death of a 30-year-old oakland mother is expected to be back in court next week. yesterday 19-year-old anthony simms hired a private attorney. he's expected to enter a plea on thursday. simms was charged with the chamile pierce. they say she was an innocent bystander who was trying it get her children to safety when she got caught in the crossfire near her home. it's not clear if simms fired the fatal shot or if he was just involved in the gun battle. police are still looking for other suspects. a new biography of steve jobs includes current ceo tim cook offered his boss a piece of his liver. according to book, becoming steve jobs, they shared a rare blood type so they were compatible but job refused it in 2009, a move he described as selfless. jobs told cook, i'll never let you do that. koch said steve only yelled at me only four or five times during the 13 years i knew him and this was one of them. jobs eventually received a liver transplant but died in 2011. a north bay gas station is getting a lot of attention after a picture showed the incredibly high prices. someone posted in photo on instagram yesterday from bridgeway gas in sausalito. you can barely see it but in the corner it says $7.97 per gallon. the on the other hand tells us because he was tired of people complaining about his prices. he said he keeps them a few cents higher than a station down the street. some people actually bought for eight dollars, and others said not a chance. >> it's supply and demand. it just is completely ludicrous to think about filling up at this place. >> the gas station owner did end up lowering his price to a somewhat more reasonable $4.97 a gallon. when you hand over your keys for valet parking you expect your car to be there when you return, right? well a newport beach couple thought they were being pranked when a valet told them their car was given away. this story tells you what can go wrong and how to protect yourself. >> the unbelievable happened at this california valet stand. >> who gave it to them? >> the other guy that's not here anymore. >> wow. >> the valet came up and said, sir, we don't know how to tell you this, but your car has been given away. we give it to someone else. >> josh's girlfriend, who was having dinner with him, filmed the aftermath on her cell phone. one of them was a large man and he had an ohio state tattoo right here. >> they said they lost the ticket they said and the valet handed over the keys. they said it appears our company policies and procedures were not followed, and we have apologized and are actively supporting the customer whose vehicle was affected. valeting your car can be a gamble. even a valet told me that. >> who knows you are giving the keys to really. it's more like valet parking row let. >> i lost my ticket. is that going to be an issue? >> that is not his car. >> why would you let someone do this! >> you gave it to him. >> i didn't give it to him. >> abc news, los angeles. >> i think i would have a heart attack if my car was missing. horrible. weather-wise what, can we expected to? >> yesterday we had one temperature in the 60s. it was half moon bay. everyone in the 70s and 80s today. a warm one and 15 degrees above average is common. mid-and upper 60 as is the average outlook for the by area today. actually san jose should be 67. mountain view should be 65. and we will be perhaps near 80 in those cities. live doppler 7hd shows some moisture but this is extreme northern california. you can see down by the bay area just cloud cover. a little piece of this energy may move into sonoma county later on today. in fact, several weak weather systems will brush northern california into next week. so that will keep us partly cloudy with temperatures above average for the longer outlook. 48 degrees right now hatch moon bay. everyone else in the 50s. san carlos a mild 57 at the airport. 54 san jose. good morning san francisco, 58 for you. 55 oakland. and from the sutro tower camera we are 48 in petaluma. normally we see 30s this time of year in the valleys. 53 fairfield. so the lows are mild, the highs are going to be well above average. 80s. with we are talking about high clouds tempering some of the readings today. especially in the north bay. but still we are expecting records. we saw plenty of them yesterday toward salinas and bought sonville. morgan hill low 80s. very little change today. but tomorrow everyone cools off with more of an on shore push. we may see more in the way of sunshine, as well. still numbers coming down into the 60s and 70s, which is still above average. so here is the culprit. it's a huge dome of high pressure. but look at all the cloud cover here. it's bumping into the ridge. we don't really have a front that will allow for any of the moisture to reach us. it will be very warm again today and a little piece of that energy may allow for a few showers north of the golden gate mainly tomorrow. take a look at high temperatures in oakland. today about 80. you should see numbers in the low 60s. tomorrow you cool off into the 70s. numbers continue to slide but still above average. then we bump back up into the middle of next week. so it's going to be mild. nothing about the outlook will be on the cool side, despite the cloud cover today. 38 morgan hill. look for 84 in los gatos. 80 at the beach in santa cruz. redwood city 3:00 about 81 degrees. pacifica, 71. san francisco we have the parade today, 74 downtown. 70 daly city. in the north bay notice a thicker available of high and mid-level clouds. 80 santa rosa. 77 san after. head to the east bay, 80 in oakland today. 15 degrees above average. union city topping you had around 80 and low 80s maybe 85 in livermore. pleasanton checking in once again in the 80s. the accuweather seven-day forecast, cooler tomorrow. we will see that onshore push, upper 60 60s coast. monday 60s and 70s. little change for tuesday and wednesday continued mild with a steady pattern. spring arrives next friday. you can see what is showing up on live doppler 7hd anytime. we have more information at abc7news.com/apps. we are just as warm as i can imagine that march temperatures have brought us in years past. records could be broken again today. >> on the flip side a nice day to go out enjoy the elements and soak it up. >> yes. >> lisa thanks. it's beginning to look a lot like barbecuesen. coming up, the grilling secrets jimmy why do we do it? this weekend? >> yeah, 70s and 80s again today. emeryville right now temperatures in the 50s and 60s for the most part under partly cloudy skies. it's 48 at the coast. we will be in the 70s today. we have had high clouds and that has helped keep the temperatures warmer than they should be. so anywhere from 2 to 5 degrees warmer this morning than yesterday morning and your forecast today calls for the 70s at the coast. mid-70s in san francisco. look for numbers near 80 in oakland. low 80s in san jose with the high clouds, filtered sunshine. we will talk about a cooler second half of your weekend and we could see anybody a few raindrops in parts of the bay area. i'll explain coming up. chris. >> lisa, thank you. >> first a fire forced residents from their home and gutted a man's business in san francisco. now looters have come in and stole what flames didn't destroy. we have more. >> the fire was fierce. 19 people left without a home. since since the fire the buildings were off-limits. but not to looters. >> he thought his bad luck was over. he just discovered his corner store was hit by looters. the market at church and 15th has been closed since the fire on february 21st. three buildings burned. displacing 19 people. >> what was your reaction when you got here, found this you had been ripped off? >> you know, feel bad. really bad. i work hard for it. >> he has owned the market for 15 years. he showed us where vandals broke in through the basement. they packed a suitcase full of liquor bottles but left it. and a backpack loaded with schoolwork and spray paint also left behind. fresh tagging has recently appeared on the side of the victorian. >> joseph is one of the nicest guys is u sef. >> it's unbelievable. somebody taking advantage of the fact that somebody is in this situation. their place has burned down. horrible. what's wrong with people? >> tenants living upstairs also looted. they made that discovery after being allowed to enter their unit the city and then to have what you have taken. i feel for them. >> insurance investigators are combing over the building, still off-limits. a cause of the fire under investigation. usef is trying to move on. >> in san francisco, abc7 news. >> a witness who called 911 because of a church fire thursday night in san francisco saw someone helping spread the flames. cell phone video shows this fire trucks at broad and can't it will in the ocean view neighborhood. the person who called 911 said someone was using paper to feed the fire before firefighters-- arrived. the fire reached the church's attic, making it difficult to put out. one firefighter was injured and police have since joined the investigation. dozens of people turned out for a prayer service at a san francisco park where two teens were killed earlier this week. the mother of 18-year-old kenyata butler joined dozens of others to remember his -- her son and his friend, a 19 year old. they were sitting in the car at the park. butler's grandmother said she wants the violence to stop and plead against any retaliation. generations of sportsmen have enjoyed san francisco's pacific rod and gun club but today members will start clearing out the facility as it faces eviction from lake merced. they plan to hold their last club shoot today. it provides a place for skeet shooting but the soil is contaminated from lead and clay pigeons. the cleanup will cost around $22 million paid for by san francisco water users. the 80-year-old club will close on april 8th. >> a health club will be closed in santa rosa after a very scary accident. take a look at this. she theirly missed people after her brakes failed pulling into a parking lot. a doctor and paramedic used an umbrella stand to snatch a window and pull her out. the woman and one of the rescuers suffered minor cuts. an effort is underway to save an east bay firehouse. the firehouse serves the area and may be moved after a few firehouse is built a few miles away. laura anthony has the sorry from -- the story from orinda. >> the cost of fire protection is expensive. >> the orinda fire chief said it's a plan that makes sense for his district and the neighboring community of lafayette. building one new station that would serve the north side of beth cities. >> in the past the distribution of mutual and automatic aid between the communities was 2 to 1. they were coming here about twice as much as we were going there. now over the last couple of years it's become much more even in its distribution. >> this is a station that would be moved, nestled in the hills of north arinda for about 50 years. while they acknowledge station 43 doesn't get a lot of calls, they certainly don't want it to go away. >> our main concern is the increase in response time. the north side of orinda is already not well-served by the fire district because response times are very long to a lot of areas. and this would increase response times by two minutes. >> north lafayette has been without a fire station for three years. last year they purchased a lot with the intent of building a new station 46 that would serve the needs of both communities. but residents near the honey hill station fear moving their station even a short distance would come at too high of a price. >> you need to be close in response time. it's definitely better, the closer they are. >> there was a study commissioned to determine exactly how response times would be impacted. a series of community workshops are also planned for this spring. in orinda, laura anthony, abc7 is approximately 3.14159 that won't happen again until the next century. pi day started 27 years ago at san francisco's exploratorium. it started primarily with staffers and has since grown into a "7 on your side" michael finney is here to explain how protecting your information is changing. >> she is typical of many of us in the 21st century. she does all of her banking online, and as a real estate agent relies heavily on her e-mail to conduct business. so word that someone hacked into her g-mail stunned her. >> i really don't know how the back end works and how these hackers work. but it's very scary. >> experts say hackers gain access through weak passwords. she kept getting messages from google that her password has been changed. >> it says your password was changed 19 hours ago. i didn't change my password. >> experts say you need a complex password. >> if it's something so hard you need to write it down, you are probably going in the right direction. >> the hackers took control of her e-mail and sent a malicious attachment to all of her contacts. google disabled her account and stopped the spread of the potential virus. the company's product manager said it uses a form of artificial intelligence to identify suspicious behavior. >> if somebody tries to access an account that's not the norm not the usual access patterns, that puts us on higher alert. >> she tried to access her g-mail again through her security questions and could not and that's because the hackers changed her questions too. >> i just hit the wall. there was no fixing. >> mark oversees the prevention of spam and abuse at google. he said the company is phasing out the use of security questions. >> there's been problems where the security question was something that could be maybe researched online or even guessed. so right now we favor a much more dynamic approach. >> the new approach is for you to give your e-mail provider an alternative way of contacting you. that can be a phone number or a secondary e-mail. google sent her a link to recover her account to that secondary e-mail, but she said she never received it. >> i feel like a prisoner, trapped. >> frustrated, she contacted "7 on your side." >> luckily, thank you very much. i immediately got some response. >> google won't discuss her case, but she's happy her account is finally restored. >> your people contacted google and got me some support. >> that was michael finney reporting. on our website we have link toss security information for g mail, yahoo and hot mail. to find them go to our website abc7news.com and click on "the sections" tab and then select" "7 on your side"." all right. time now is 6:43. weather-wise we are up for a beautiful day i cross the bay area?
