highway 101. >> melanie woodrow has details on the crash and the other problems facing drivers tonight. melanie? >> around 7:15 the chp says the driver of the white truck flipped his vehicle. it happened on 101 north near the atherton exit in novato. you can see the smashed windshield. chp says the driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. close to 10 people called the accident in and many reporting a dog running through traffic that mi have been hit. they ventured out to san rafael. >> they really wanted to see a movie. >> other driverses didn't appreciate her cautious driving. >> they don't slow down. >> reporter: the movie over and the rain is still coming down here and ivy and her friend headed home. >> i like it. we need it. >> reporter: she says at least it is not snow. in san rafael, melanie woodrow, abc7 news. >> tonight 3600 pg&e customers are in the dark during the storm. >> let's look at the latest numbers we got 20 minutes ago. 200 customers in the north bay are in the dark and more than 2300 in the south bay. 230 on the peninsula and 80 customers in san francisco. >> abc7 news reporter alyssa harrington has more from walnut creek. >> a pg&e spokesman says their biggest problem is the wind. it can knock tree branches into power lines orcas the lines to get twisted. it is going to be a busy night. >> we had to light a few flashlights. >> reporter: they took us into their concord home. high winds knocked out power leaving it in the dark. >> it would be nice to charge a cell phone so we can use it for work in the morning. >> reporter: pg&e crews have been working all night to restore power to thousands of homes throughout the bay area. the rain fell hard during rush hour when they were inching through -- traffic on the freeway. >> it was raining so hard it wasn't doing any good. >> the powerful winds and heavy rain is a drastic change from tuesday's sunny skies. the people i talked to are okay with that. >> we definitely need it especially this time of the year. >> there were a couple of accidents we saw, but it is hair to get upset when we are in such a dry spell. >> we are getting gusty winds. you can see it moving 11:30 on thursday night on haste and telegraph avenue not far from people's park. and then last nightnother assault. this was just blocks away near dwight way. alan wang is in berkeley tonight. >> i saw a cop car right out in front of my place. >> she came across the crime scene on tuesday night in front of her apartment. >> because of the low lighting at night, i am not that surprised. >> this is the second sexual assault in this berkeley neighborhood in one week. last thursday a female uc berkeley student was attacked not far away. >> right now special victims detectives are following up and trying to investigate to determine if they are connected. >> both victims describe their attacker as a 5-9 inch man in his 20s with dark hair and both sexual assaults happened close to people's park. this homeless man says he is surprised. >> you see people pull into that lot often. their press accepts -- presence is heavy. it seems surprising. >> news of the attacks is sending a chill through this off campus neighborhood. >> i definitely look around once in awhile behind me and i don't use headphones and try to put my phone away. >> uc berkeley cops are sharing their sexual assault cases with the city police to see if any similarities lead to a single suspect. in berkeley, alan wang, abc7 news. a 17-year-old girl shown kneeing a student twice in the face will be charged with one count of battery on school grounds. we first showed you this video last night here on abc7 news the a 11:00. the school district says the fight began because of an on-line post. the girl will be referred to the sonoma county youth family services program. if she refuses to participate she will go before a juvenile court. >> the abc7 news eye team has uncovered a new controversy to hit the santa clara office. the death of an innocent man may be tied to poor decisions by the front desk deputies at the main jail in san jose. >> it is where the public meets the jail. you have to have bay area. let's go to sandhya patel who is tracking it for us. >> both are welcome here. here is a look at live doppler 7hd and i turn your attention to what is showing up off the coastline. we have a couple of lightning strikes and thunderstormses west of the san mateo coast. this moisture is moving northeast. so watch out san mateo coast and san francisco area and you may see some downpours with a clap or two of thunder. we are seeing light to pod rat rain in the east bay. street level radar there and in the north bay we have been seeing some rain from south santa rosa to highway 101 row knock park area. as i show you what the storm reports have been like, nonthunderstorm wind damage from the campbell to the santa cruz area and that's not out of the question even though the winds have subsided. it is still a little on the gusty side. chain controls on all roads leading up to tahoe. we have a winter storm warning until 4:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. 12 to 24 inches above 6,000 feet and expecting a few inches down to 3500 feet. they are expecting a couple feet of snow. the temperatures are in the 40s and 50s and it is going to feel better tonight. if it is uncomfortable and you don't have air conditioning it has been warm. a live look across the bay. another system on friday and it is going to be dry for the weekend. look at the time line. this is a present time line. you go to your morning commute and notice a few showers at 4:00 a.m. popping up about anywhere. the morning commute time at 5:00 a.m. you can see the scattered light showers. mike nicco will be here tracking these showers with live doppler 7hd. a little more numerous and this continues at 9:00 a.m. it is light for the most part. noontime scattered light showers. 3:00 p.m. most have shifted and stayed in the north bay as we head toward the evening commute and then it is winding down. additional rainfall between now and heading into tomorrow evening we are expecting about a third to maybe a half an inch, but they may pick up more than that. it is a 1, a light system. a 10th to a quarter inch. when you look at time line at 5:00 a.m. light showers ahead of the main system. a few light rain drops and then as we head toward 10:00 a.m. light to moderate rain. and it starts to shift. notice the moderate rain band is a narrow band at noontime. it doesn't hold together very well. the temperatures first thing tomorrow morning will start out cooler and then great slooping weather tonight. mid40s to the low 50s. watch out for the slick spots during the morning commute and into the afternoon as well. scattered showers will continue. temperatures in the mid50s to the low 60s across the bay area. a look at the accu-weather seven-day forecast. what's left of the system in a 1 on the storm
