driver 30 year old elaine and lacrosse officers believe she was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. the woman was arrested for d u i as well as child endangerment and they say a minor was in the car with her during that crash. so she was booked into the solano county jail. in the east bay and oakland town hall meeting calling attention the rash of break-ins. and we've been seen at some of the small businesses we've been reporting on the burglaries in jack london square all week and now 7 stores in chinatown were also hit overnight thursday. carl chan with the oakland chinatown chamber of commerce says the burglaries happened along both 8th and harrison streets. take a look at some of the damage chances. these are mom and pop shops that are barely getting by. and now they have to deal with this crime and they are at their wits in. they don't know whether they want to stay rooted in oakland anymore in awe. now he spoke with some of the business owners outside of chinatown, including purchasing new fare gates to be installed systemwide. it's part of the next generation of fare gate project, an effort to bring riders back and overhaul safety in the system. the new gates are designed to make it easier to get through. if you are in a wheelchair or using a bike. bart says the new design has not yet been finalized. the gates will have clear swing barriers. that will be very difficult to be pushed through, jumped over or maneuvered under fare evasion, cost the syst millis of dollars in lost revenue every year. right now there are prototypes at the richmond conquered and
