they eventually forced their way inside, discovered the woman who lives in the home was dead. >> the details weren't shared with me, but the officer saw something that suggested to him that this was not a natural death, and so that's what caused them to secure the scene and to back out. >> reporter: while police waited for a search warrant to send detectives and crime scene technicians in the home, the victim's neighbors were left to wonder and worry. >> that's terrible. sorry to hear that. >> reporter: police have spoken to a number of people who apparently know the victim, but so far, neither they north the police have positively identified her. what do you know about her? >> i can't say anything, really. i can't say anything. i'm sorry. >> reporter: some of the victim's neighbors told us police were in the neighborhood, a part of spring field, called newington forest, and at the same address just yesterday, something officials would later confirm. >> i've just learned police officers were here yesterday about 8:00 p.m. to do a welfare check on this exact same address. >> reporter: what happened? >> the officers got no response from the house but in looking through the windows and around the house they found no reason to kick in the door at that time. >> reporter: the fairfax county police got a call of second concern from a different friend today and decided to investigate further making the ghoulish discovery that's become a murder-mystery. now, tonight, neighbors are telling us the victim was canadian, apparently had dual citizenship, was in the catering business. as far as family, we don't know whether she was married, but apparently, brian had no children. >> bob barnard tonight. new this afternoon, an assistant principal at a virginia elementary school arrested on child porn charges. 29-year-old joshua myers has been suspended without pay from greenville elementary. investigators say they busted him with an online chat with an undercover agent. he shared photo files, told the agent he'd travel to california for sex with the child and that he'd molested children ages 9 to 14. he admitted to having child porn images on his school laptop. metro says the mclane woman involved in monday's rockville stop incident is undergoing a mental evaluation. police are trying to figure out what set the woman up. the train was delayed about two hours while they investigated. no explosives were found. they'll determine whether to charge her after a mental evaluation. more trouble for harry thomas. his old unpaid student loans are coming back to bite him. thomas is already facing legal trouble. the dc attorney general says thomas misused thousands of dollars in public funds. thomas's lawyer was in court today trying to fix the student loan issue. fox 5's karen gray houston was there too. >> reporter: the government is out to get harry thomas to pay back what is now $16,000 in student loans, plus interest. government attorney thomas morrow was in us district court to try to get the matter resolved. thomas's attorney, fred cook, new to the case about the loan was given time. he'll be back before the court in september to try to avoid a trial. >> we would like to see harry thomas step down because of the ethics violation, you know, money laundering and setting up a bogus nonprofit and taking $300,000 something in useless personal gain. >> reporter: this suv he drives is leaving a bad taste in some of the mouths of some of his fi. according to nathan, he bought it and took lavish trips with money that was willfully and inadvertently transferred from city funds. brown and the mayor are under fire and the council is considering ethics legislation. >> this comes at a particularly sensitive time for us in the district of columbia. there have been a state of allegations against members of the council, against members of the executive branch. it's obvious that we need to take some steps. >> reporter: some are not waiting. supporters of former mayor adrian fenty are still seething over harry thomas's two-year investigation of questionable parks and recreation contracts and are setting the ground works for recalls of mayor gray, brown and harry thomas. >> i don't think it's premature. i think the electorates and the residents of dc have been patient enough and i don't think they -- yes you have to wait until january 2, 2012, but we can start the discussion right now. >> reporter: back to the student loans, there were two of them totalling $5,000 back in 1983 and '84 when thomas took them out. he returned my phone calls. the city had no comment. he wants to let this all play itself out. i'm karen gray houston, in the fox 5 news room. he showed up when they subpoenaed him last time but brown says he will not cooperate with the latest wishes of the dc council. brown is the one who accused mayor gray of paying him to bad mouth adrian fenty during the mayoral campaign. he promised him a job and then fired him. the council wants his phone and e-mail records. brown says the subpoena for that material is too broad and the council is asking for what he calls privileged information. paws found on the body of a dead man. police in virginia believe the dog did it. laura evans is everywhere at 11:00. >> a man found dead at 11:00 was killed by his pit bull. that is the word by the sheriff. an autopsy done on the body of 38-year-old david hagler found indications of paw marks and defensive wounds on his hands. he was discovered in his home saturday by his son. one pit bull was roaming tree and another was chained up in a home. a notorious hacker group claims it took down the cia website today. he tweeted, quote, wrecking your infrastructure since 2011. the cia says they're looking into it. he apparently tried for a second time but was unable to break into sensitive information on the website for the us senate. a hero's homecoming in san diego as carluenceon pulled into court. they're back home after an historic deployment which included the burial of osama bin laden at sea. they also stopped acts of piracy against civilian vessels. >> turns out pakistan really wasn't all that happy about the raid that killed osama bin laden. now, the local informants who helped us find him are under arrest. intense moments today on the hill. we'll break it down coming up number 5, the report says risky online behavior is much too common. it says people visit suspicious websites and don't update their antivirus software. 65% of parents say their home computers have had more than one virus. number 4, new virginia laws aimed at improving school bus safety. as of july 1, it's illegal for sex offenders to be on school busses. the new law also allows for video cameras to be installed on busses and it increases penalties for drivers who pass stopped busses. number 3, what's wasting the most energy in your home? your dvr and your cable or satellite box. a new report says the two combined wastes hours of energy when they're not in use, because most are not built with a low power mode like your laptop. ask your satellit or cable provider for an energy fbt box. the they're already coming in brian, and we have to say, yeah, there's a chance for thunderstorms tomorrow. i'm personally thinking that maybe they're going to hold off a little bit but we're not going to dodge them totally. by the way, i also want to say we do need rain. we just don't need lightning on the us open and we're worried about people, as brian said, that there's a lot of golfers who do really fear that and some have been struck. tonight, no rain around but we have the clouds that are coming in and you can see that here on true view. the clouds are really filling in now and yeah, could there be a slight chance of a shower earlier in the day? yes. these clouds are an important part of the forecast tomorrow, because if they break up for awhile in the afternoon, that means it's a little better chance for some shower and thunderstorm activity for us. by the way, this is what we're watching tonight. you can clearly see the dispatch isn't going to be coming in our direction. that's sinking to the south. the area of low pressure is actually still out through chicago, dragging a front in our direction so maybe just maybe it will take a little while to get this going. let's go look at the temperatures today because that was also another big part of the story. reagan up to 84 degrees, dulles 83, and bwi marshal 84, absolutely normal for this time of year, and what a bargain in the humidity department, that is for sure. our temperature here in the city has dropped to 72, as has annapolis, but comfortable 60s about everywhere else. 61 in gaithersburg, 63 for dulles, manassas 61. so advertising the chance for thunder thursday and friday and quite honestly we can't eliminate it from sunday's forecast later in the day as well, but there will be many dry hours and your best bet if you're going to be out there as a spectator, paid a lot for your ticket, want to get there, make sure you seek shelter if we do get thunderstorms. they'll get you off the course that's for sure. the clouds will be moving in, very comfortable overnight though. tomorrow temperature wise is a bargain. humidity, a little bit of an uptick. slight chance of a shower in the morning. probably will get a big break if the clouds hang tough and then we'll perhaps see showers and moderate thunderstorms in the afternoon. if we get full sunshine, some of the strongs could be strong if not severe. 82 for fredricksburg. going into the weekend, let's talk about that a little bit. for the most part saturday it looks dry. it is only wednesday. that's why i say it looks dry now so let's keep an eye on all of that so, so far so good. we may have a storm in the afternoon on father's day and that kind of condition will take us into next week too. what is changing is our high pressure system that's been right on top of us, it's slipping off the coast tonight, albeit slowly, and so the slower it goes the longer we keep this at bay but i think the showers and storms will get in here. maybe we hold them off to 6:00 or 7:00 tomorrow night, which would be a good scenario at congressional, and then we'll see those moving on through. i do expect showers and thunderstorms. it's all about the timing at this point. maybe they're in here for the 10:00, 11:00 news as well. five-day forecast, showers and storms on friday as well. pretty good chance, both days i've got to tell you. saturday, 88 degrees, for the most part dry, temperatures are creeping up, just a little bit above normal, but not to those oppressive three digit ranges anytime soon. don't go anywhere. dave
