WASHINGTON – Only a handful of Texas Republicans in the House sided with President Donald Trump’s push to increase the amount of pandemic stimulus checks to $2,000 per person from the already agreed-upon level of $600 per person.
The Democrat-run House late on Monday voted 275-134 in favor of the larger payouts – which have created the odd effect of uniting Trump, a Republican, with congressional Democrats.
