The government will set up a centre of excellence for visual effects and gaming with help from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Information & Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Wednesday. He was speaking at a virtual entertainment summit, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The ministry has identified the animation, visual effects, gaming and comics (AVGC) sector as a sunrise industry, he said, adding that the centre of excellence would bridge skill gaps through professional training and educational programmes. Despite growing at an estimated 29-30 per cent per annum, the share of the domestic AVGC industry in the global AVGC market was just one per cent at $2.69 billion (or Rs 20,000 crore), a CII report released during the summit says.

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], December 16 (ANI): RajasthanChief MinisterAshok Gehlot on Tuesday expressed concerns over positive Covid-19 cases detected at IIT Madras and advised students to take adequate precautions amid the pandemic.
On December 13, several students from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Upon gathering this information, Gehlot wrote on Twitter, The news that in IIT Madras, 183 people tested positive for COVID-19 including students this month is worrying. There remains a grave risk of infection cases rising in gatherings.
The tweet added, Due to health consideration of our students and risk of spread of coronavirus infection, we have still not allowed educational institutions in our state to open. For state government, health and wellbeing of all are paramount.
The first session of JEE Main 2021 will be conducted from February 23 to 26, followed by rounds in March, April and May, and the JEE Main result 2021 will be declared within five days from the last day of exams, announced Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Wednesday. From the next academic year, JEE Main will be held in multiple shifts - February, March, April and May. The JEE-Mains exam for admission to engineering colleges will be held four times a year starting 2021 to offer flexibility to students and a chance to improve their scores, according to Union Education Minister. Students can appear in all the four sessions, and their best score in JEE Main 2021 will be considered as final. The first shift of JEE Main examination will be from 9 am to 12 pm while the second will be from 3 pm to 6 pm.
