A deadly wave April 28, 2021 A virulent second wave of the coronavirus continues to play havoc with the lives of Indians, ravaging cities after cities and towns after towns. More than 15000 people perished in a matter of a week. The second most populous country on the earth also witnessed the largest number of coronavirus cases in a single day since the pandemic hit it last year. India's health system seems to have been overwhelmed. We are witnessing heart-wrenching scenes of people lying on footpaths, main roads and corridors of the hospitals with their loved ones, desperately calling for help. Indian Prime Minister Modi has described the wave as the storm of the contagion but it seems that he did not make enough preparations to deal with the impending calamity.
