A few thoughts about missing live music, in a year of missing so much

I always knew live music was a major part of my life, in that same way we know blinking and swallowing are major parts of our lives. We don’t have to think about it. We just do it.
Then in mid-March, live music stopped happening. Suddenly I had to think about it.
When the COVID-19 pandemic shut down public gatherings, crippling the concert industry for the rest of 2020, it hit me hard. I spend a big chunk of my life buzzing about the concert I was just at, thrilling at the concert I’m at now or looking forward to the next one on my list. That constant momentum in my life was gone.
