Reinforcing commentary critical of the Morrison government last week, the deputy economics counsellor at the US embassy, Steve Dyokas, confirmed the Biden administration was âpressing Australia to do moreâ. Dyokas said all nations âhave to raise our sights togetherâ with a sense of urgency. He said there had been âa lot of talkâ in the press about âthe issue of pushing Australiaâ to take stronger action. âOur line is: yes, the US is pressing Australia to do more, just as the US is pressing every other country in the world â including ourselves â to do more,â Dyokas said at an event at the Australian National University on Tuesday night.
