Perhaps most importantly for SOFREP readers, Greitens was also a Navy SEAL officer. For those who may be unfamiliar with his background, here is a brief primer. He was born in St. Louis, MO in 1974 and attended Duke University with a scholarship. While there he was selected as a Rhodes Scholar and a Truman Scholar. He received his Ph.D. from Oxford University where he wrote his dissertation on how international humanitarian organizations work with children around the world. He was also an accomplished athlete: A gold medalist in the BUSA national boxing championships; a sub-three-hour marathon runner; and a black belt and gold medalist sparring champion in Taekwondo.
