Arguments fly back and forth over the definition and removal of hate speech and misinformation, censorship, political neutrality and campaigning, malicious activity, data privacy, and what facts are. 
COVID-19 misinformation and political messaging around the 2020 US elections pushed discourse further, culminating in the decision to ban President Trump from Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram for life. 
At the same time, Twitter alternative Parler was kicked off AWS, the Amazon-owned cloud platform, with hopes of returning soon, perhaps with the help of a new partnership with a tech giant that has Russian government ties.
