leadership, and the american people after syria now and shutdown and then the military debacle, and i want to go over to rosen for. this rosen, you are a state department guy, knock but obviously the military, very, very involved with the state department. and this comes out yesterday, were you surprised, rosen, that this was so botched by the department of defense? >> well, it is surprising that the administration and the house republicans and the democrats in congress all worked very effectively together as we were steaming towards a shutdown to keep the the military troops funded. but somehow would have left out of that the pay for families, especially in such dire circumstances. so it is surprising. i can tell you i spent the day on the phone working the phones with democrats who are in and out of government who are well plugged in and also who are on the house side and the senate side in the leadership and i can tell you what their calculation going forward is. you will hear both sides say. this they think time is on their side.
