That’s not exactly historical in itself: we’ve done it 45 times before. Joe Biden is, statistically, like most of our presidents: white, a career politician, but he does get a niche as the oldest man ever sworn in. He is from small-town America—Scranton, PA, the city where I first attended school as a kindergartener or first grader – I can’t remember which – and where my first memories were formed. And, no, I don’t remember Joe. He was just graduating high school then. My father was a Church of God preacher and I seriously doubt that Joe ever caught a service there.
