Thanks to a pair of federal laws â the Uniform Time Act of 1966 and the Energy Policy Act of 2005 â this is the weekend when America âsprings forwardâ from standard time. From now until Nov. 7, youâll have that extra hour of sunlight you like during the evening hours. I hope you enjoy it. I also hope this is the last year we have to go through this business of shifting our clocks ahead, and that by this time next year weâll be back on standard time for good.
