Though shaken, Nguyen is healing by highlighting the heart that showed up the next morning — not the cowardice committed in darkness Saturday night. Nguyen found the vandalism Sunday morning, after a days-long barrage of comments from people who disagreed with the comments he made during a CNN interview on Wednesday. During the CNN Newsroom spot with Poppy Harlow and Jim Sciutto, Nguyen denounced Gov. Abbott's decision to end Texas' mask mandate, and said the safeguard would continue to be required at his restaurant. Nguyen is battling lymphoma and is considered at risk for contracting the virus.
