Is Florida 'leading the way' on pandemic recovery? Not so much, says data

Governor DeSantis Monday made moves to strike down the few remaining coronavirus restrictions enacted by Florida counties and municipalities, and again touted Florida's record on the pandemic. But data on the state's health and economy released this week suggests the sunshine state's recovery is lagging behind the pack.
"The approach here is Florida leading the way, again, because I think there's some states going a different direction," Gov. DeSantis proclaimed Monday as he signed a law banning "vaccine passports," and announced executive orders tearing down any locally passed coronavirus restrictions.
