"abc7 news" starts right now. >> now, news to build a better bay area, from abc 7. we begin with late developments on coronavirus. china has more than 28,000 cases and 563 deaths. in the u.s., there are 12 cases, one confirmed in wisconsin. >> two planes with americans were evacuated from wuhan, china, and brought to travis air force base in the bay area. one plane went on to the marine corps air station miramar in san diego. but there are 178 people being quarantined at travis. >> we're facing an unprecedented public health threat. >> reporter: a team with the centers for disease control screened passengers after they arrived around 4:00 a.m. at travis. some are diplomatic employees. the cdc report as young child on the plane had a fever and taken to a local hospital. >> the child is being evaluated at this point, and will be put in isolation and tested. >> reporter: the roth family from wisconsin is among those in quarantine for two weeks. daisy roth shared these photos of her room. sam says his wife and daughters were visiting family in wuhan. >> they arrived at the airport at 3:00 p.m. on tuesday, and they did not take off until more than 24 hours later. and that's an airport with no shops open. it was just waiting and getting their temperature taken. it was really exhausting for my wife and daughters. >> reporter: everyone in quarantine at travis will be continually screened for any sign of the virus. >> we don't believe these people pose a risk to this community, because we are taking measures to minimize any exposures. the fallout from coronavirus has been widespread. today, a korean air flight bound for las vegas from seoul, south korea was diverted to lax. there were concerns three passengers may have been exposed to coronavirus. but they were tested and cleared. the hong kong based airline is asking workers to take three weeks unpaid leave. it's a response to the drop in demand for flights. nike announced it's closing half of its stores in china. the uc system is study abroad programs. cornell bernard spoke with a north bay man who is voluntarily isolating himself. >> i'm fine, no symptoms whatsoever. >> reporter: mark and his fiance just returned home from china. they visited a place where streets and train stations were deserted. although it was more than 3 hub miles from wuhan, authorities were taking precautions. >> there were mandatory mask requirements. you would get actively yelled at if you weren't wearing a mask. >> reporter: since they returned home, they've been met with one reaction. >> a lot of fear. >> reporter: he and his employer agreed he would work from home for two weeks. his contractor wouldn't finish a repair job unless mark went to a hotel. and for a super bowl party -- >> he said yeah, it might be best if you don't come. i get the idea of the infectious disease that we don't clearly understand right now and the risk behind that. but i don't think it's nearly as bad as what is coming warn you, some of the photos may be disturbing. >> sometime between saturday 4:00 and sunday morning, someone came in and tortured our chickens. >> reporter: you may find the next photos disturbing. four chickens found mutilated. a fifth chicken is still missing. she has been the director here for more than 20 years. >> there's a great violation and uneasiness we're now feeling. what is next, children or other adults? you know, where does it stop? >> reporter: the sheriffs came out here to investigate and each took the chickens as evidence. but now they're saying they can't conclusively determine that they were killed by a human. but they don't know how the chings with placed after they were killed. >> to be in this kind of environment and for somebody to conduct themselves in that way seems mad. >> reporter: all three of her children have attended the preschool, which now has a go fund me page to raise money for cameras in the yard. >> when you realize that a place that you have been sending your kids doesn't have that, you -- it becomes a realization that is so important and for these very reasons. >> reporter: the school bunnies were unharmed and moved inside. the children don't know why their egg laying preschool pets are now gone. kate larson, "abc7 news." new developments. san francisco pride's board of directors met to discuss a vote on banning google from this year's pride parade. >> reporter: dan, good evening. google hasn't applied to be part of this year's play, but organizers say if google does, the door is open. >> tonight, the board decided not to ban google or anybody else from the parade. >> reporter: san francisco pride parade executive director fred lopez says the controversy to ban google from this year's parade began at a january 15th meeting. that's when members of sf pride voted to keep google out. but that vote was nonbinding. >> i regret the fact that within our community, we're fighting against each other when we don't have to. >> reporter: the board president addressed that vote and the concerns over how google treats its lbtg employees. >> i think that some action needs to be taken. there's incredible amounts of transphobia online, and it seems to just go. >> reporter: she says they have met with google and seen immediate changes. she says it's best to work from within than to ban an important community partner. >> everyone is saying we want to be in your parade. but this is what they are saying about the organization and we're going to hold their feet to the fire. >> reporter: some organization members were calling on banning the alameda county sheriff's department from the parade for how they handled the eviction last month. but the board president says that's not true, and that the county sheriff's department has never participated in the parade. i want to add we just got an email from google. they said they've been a proud participant for more than a decade and will continue to support this important community organization. >> all right. thank you. a man accused in a deadly stabbing at a b.a.r.t. station got kicked out of his trial. he was thrown out for outbursts as his trial began today. he was able to return. the jury watched surveillance video of the murder of nia wilson. it showed a man stabbing her and her sister from behind at the b.a.r.t. station in july of 2018. wilson's sister survived. developing news on the iowa caucuses tonight. mayor pete buttigieg and senator bernie sanders are virtually tied. that's with 97% of precincts reporting. followed by
