No SL representative for the UNHRC monitoring committee : vi

It is reported that a Sri Lankan representative will not be appointed to the Sri Lanka Human Rights Monitoring Committee appointed under the latest resolution on Sri Lanka adopted by the UN Human Rights Council.
The commitee will operate from Geneva and would be made up of international professionals.
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has decided not to nominate a representative of the Sri Lankan government for this purpose.
However, when we inquired about this, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella stated that he was opposed to this unilateral decision of the Geneva Human Rights Council.
