The Herald News FALL RIVER — Friday wasn't the first time Fall River has had a "starring" role in a big Hollywood production. As extras dressed as sailors climbed aboard Big Mamie — the ship decked out with lights, bunting and flags — Friday night's filming of the movie "Don't Look Up" put Battleship Cove in the spotlight. Back in 2000, Battleship Cove hosted film crews from the movie "Thirteen Days," starring Kevin Costner. Scenes from the movie, which told the story of the Cuban Missile crisis, were shot aboard the destroyer USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Of course, the recently released movie "Jungleland," starring Charlie Hunnam and directed by Max Winkler, also filmed in Fall River and the surrounding area. Locals will notice shots of Knight's garage, the former Brayton Point cooling towers and the Venus de Milo.
