Opinion: A cemetery told Darrell Semien's family he couldn't be buried there because he was Black. I wasn't shocked.

You might think that this happened 200 years ago, but it happened just a few days ago.
The body of Darrell Semien was rejected for burial in a Louisiana cemetery because he was Black. He had been a deputy sheriff for 15 years, putting his life on the line for his community, and he helped raise 72 foster children. Didn't matter. He was Black.
Maybe murderers were buried in that cemetery, or a couple of rapists or bank robbers, but that didn't matter either, they were white.
