Opinion: Ohio must be prepared to act on Amtrak offer

Amtrak’s recent announcement that they are looking to massively expand passenger rail service in Ohio was big news across the state two weeks ago, with reporting at outlets from Cincinnati to Cleveland to Ashtabula. As part of a wider plan released by Amtrak that focuses on state-supported routes connecting city pairs, this proposal would vastly increase Ohioans’ access to frequent, reliable passenger rail connecting cities in Ohio and beyond. Combined with the Biden administration’s desire to start the "Second Great Railroad Revolution," the possibility for Ohio’s rail system is promising.
