Rep. Jim Jordan climbs aboard the “Free Britney” Spears bandwagon in questioning conservatorships Sabrina Eaton, cleveland.com WASHINGTON, D.C. - Add Republican Rep. Jim Jordan to the list of people who want to free pop star Britney Spears from her father’s conservatorship. Jordan, of Champaign County, on Tuesday asked House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler of New York to conduct a hearing on whether Americans are trapped unjustly in conservatorships. In a letter to Nadler he authored with Florida’s Matt Gaetz, Jordan cited “growing public concern” about the use of conservatorships to effectively deprive individuals of personal freedoms at the behest of others through the manipulation of the courts, and “financial exploitation by conservators that often goes unchecked by courts.”
