Support for Rounds, time to expand Medicaid and wear orange for gun violence awareness: Your Letters to the Editor for June 6 Letters to the Editor Wear orange for gun violence awareness Approximately 100 South Dakotans die each year as the result of gun violence. 80% of these people die by gun suicide. These victims are teens, veterans, farmers, neighbors, and family members who live in our cities, rural areas and reservations. They leave behind grieving families, friends and communities. June 4-6 is Wear Orange Weekend, and June 4th is the 7th National Gun Violence Awareness Day. People across our country will Wear Orange to honor victims and survivors of gun violence. Landmarks and businesses will light up orange in support of gun violence awareness. Why orange? Orange is the color worn by hunters in the woods for protection.
