The first lunar samples to be retrieved in more than four decades successfully landed on Earth, Jupiter and Saturn gradually make their approach in the night sky ahead of their Great Conjunction and a total solar eclipse mesmerized spectators in South America. First lunar retrieval samples in four decades make it to Earth. 
A recent space mission from China brought the first new moon samples to Earth in 44 years. The Chang'e 5 mission successfully landed a capsule loaded with lunar dirt and gravel in Mongolia on Wednesday (Dec. 16). Chang'e 5 collected the material from the moon's large Oceanus Procellarum ("Ocean of Storms") region, where it landed on Dec. 1.
