[ male announcer ] give your kids the new totino s pizza stuffers. new, minimum mess, maximum fun! you want that? you want a warm, super-delicious strawberry toaster strudel yeah but now i have nothing to eat sureou do. hey! you can have the pop tart! pillsbury toaster strudel. the one kids want to eat many of us subscribe to cable or satellite by radio. one man went to having 180 channels to zero and he called michael finney for help. don enjoys listening to sirius x radio as he goes in his car. you can pick and choose the type of music. he tunes into a favorite local news every time he some the car then one thing changed. all of a sudden, it went dead on me. it didn t any music. he called sirius to find out why and the mystery deepened. they said i cancelled my service and i don t have the car anymore. i said you have to be kidding. i m sitting in the car right now. they said they had sent him a refund for the half year he didn t use the service but he says he did not cancel and he did not receive any refund. they restored the satellite radio but they charged him again half a year for that service. $76. you mean i paid twice for the same service. they said the only way to get the money back is talk to somebody from corporate. he was beginning to think that somebody posed as him and taken the refund. he called 7 on your side and we got sirius to look into the case. they si it was cancelled simply by must take but would not explain further. a company spokesperson declined to speak on camera but they said human error led to the deletion of the account. we apologize to him and we fixed the account. there is no reason to worry that his account is not secured. they promised to refund the $76 and also added a bonus. good news. i would be getting one year s free service. i said that is great 7 on your side really helped me out. i m michael finney, 70 your side. there are thousands of people in the bay area who have guns and the law says they shouldn t. many police departments know who has them but do little to collect them. dan ashley has more. reporter: these guns are part of a statewide sweep to get firearms out of the hands of the mentally ill. john marsh is with the state bureau of firearms. he took us along as they knocked on doors around the bay area looking for guns. in june they contacted 1011 people who by law are not allowed to have weapons. they netted more than 1200 guns. it was ordered by attorney general pamela harris. we have seen cases with individuals mentally unstable that have guns that commit heinous acts. they knew where to look for the guns by the list called the armed or prohibited persons system. it matches people with court records. state law requires that people have been convicted of felonies and certain misdemeanors have a restraining order to surrender any weapons they own but in many cases they don t. this hayward man was on the list because after his tri-of domestic violence. we have revolvers, assault weapons, ak-47s and at least 4,000 rounds of ammunition. there are nearly 18s in people on the list statewide. records obtained by us found 2671 people on the list in the bay area, antioch had the largest of offenders in a single zip code, 59. the antioch police did not subscribe until we called and asked them about the list. other police departments know about the armed prohibited persons list but are not doing anything with it because they say they don t have enough officers to do so. in san jose they have the most people on its list, 264 with 628 guns but has done little with it. that is more than both san francisco, 134 or oakland, 233. both those cities have lower numbers because they enforce the list. in february, san jose police told us that they use the list only as a reference tool. now, they are preparing to go door to door. we give that list to our special operations people and they are going through the list and then start chipping away at it. the attorney general wants more departments to do the same. what we need to do is give them dedicated resources with the folks on this list which is pro-active and prevention work, that is not necessarily funded. dan ashley, abc 7 news. the attorney general is backing a senate bill that would allocate money already collected from gun dealers to use for enforcement of the list. when we continue, activists target a city to promote their ideas for diabetes. and learning to drive again, a bay area program helpin whoa! do you know what our favorite part of shooting hoops is?
