supreme court nomination. there is not going to be much margin for error. he is going to be thinking, i think, about what kind of nominee can he put forward that is going to not only galvanize and win over support from progressive democrats, like senators bernie sanders and elizabeth warren, but who can also appease senator joe manchin in west virginia and some of the more moderate -leaning democrats in the conference. our reporters at the post talk to a lot of democratic strategists, white house officials and operatives today and there is a sense of excitement about this opportunity and this reframing of the political stakes in the supreme court nomination battle. and there is a sense that this battle, even if it becomes contentious, will only serve to remind voters about the state midterm elections. and a reminder about abortion policy and the other core issues in their states, depending on the supreme court.
