donald trump was full of lies and misinformation. we know that. but one of the things that he said was that china developed this virus in a lab, somehow released it or weaponized it. he used the term, sent tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of people on planes to the rest of the world. it sounded very deliberate and malicious. he also accused the world health organization of being in the back pocket of china. to what degree did we, meaning the whole scientific and medical and journalistic community, discount everything he said because he lied so much, but there might have been kernels of truth in any of that? i'm not suggesting that china weaponized this thing or sent people overseas or the world health organization is in the back pocket of china, but maybe everybody involved in this was a little more responsible than we gave them credit for being.
