reporter: large globe lighting fixtures can be a design element in any room. if you don't have a few hundred bucks for a one of a kind light don't sweat it. here's a look that could blow your mind, but not your budget. we came up with a unique take on a globe light. it involves a balloon and paper mache solution. first thing we have to do is make our paste. it's technically not paper mache because there's no paper in it. it's string. we're making paste out of flower, water and glue. we'll run the string through the glue. the balloon is a mold for the string. we'll wrap the string around the balloon and let it dry overnight. once it dries overnight it will be nice and hard and rigid to the point we can pop the balloon and still hold its shape. what we'll do is cut a hole 6 inches wide so the light fixture can go through into the globe. our final step is to screw could hooks into the ceiling on either side of the light fixture and hook the globe on them. instead of spending $200 at a high end store, we used string and glue and it cost us, get this, 14 bucks. is that crazy cool or what. go to live well network.com/knock it off. >> we have another hour of "action news" coming up.
