미국, 한국·일본·유럽 동맹국들과 상호방위조약…침략 받을시 공동 대응
미국은 한국과 일본, 유럽의 동맹국들과 상호방위조약을 맺고 있습니다. 이 조약들에는 한 나라가 공격을 받으면 자동 개입으로 공동 방어한다는 내용이 들어있습니다. 박동정 기자가 전해 드립니다.
바이든 대통령은 19일 공개된 미 ‘ABC’방송과의 인터뷰에서 한국과 일본, 북대서양조약기구(NATO)의 동맹이 다른 나라의 침략을 받을 경우 상호방위조약에 따라 대응하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
[바이든 대통령] “We have made kept every commitment. We made a sacred commitment to Article Five that if in fact anyone were to invade or take action against our NATO allies, we would respond. Same with Japan, same with South Korea, same with Taiwan.
