Disney Entertainment representatives attributed the omission of the Ukrainian film 20 Days in Mariupol from the shortened international TV version of the 96th Academy Awards ceremony to time constraints, the Ukrainian outlet Voice of America reported on March 12.
The award ceremony for the film 20 Days in Mariupol was not included in the shortened international TV broadcast of the Academy Awards. Disney Entertainment explained that this was due to time limits provided for the short version of the show.
Last year at the Oscars, the documentary 'Navalny' bagged the top prize. The Russian Opposition leader died in prison last month. This year, Ukraine's '20 Days in Mariupol' might take home the said award at the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday.
The 96th Academy Awards, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) is to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, on March 10, 2024.
