Israel has been bombing the Gaza Strip since Hamas attacked on October 7. Fighters and children have been killed in a war that has trapped the population of Gaza in a living hell.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) says it will launch a ground offensive "in the next 48 hours" as the Palestinian death toll surpassed 9,700, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza.
