by Tom Pawlesh The National Warplane Museum held their annual “Greatest Show on Turf” air display in Geneseo, New York over the weekend of July 10/11, 2021. after a year off due to Covid 19. This was the event’s 40th anniversary, which they titled Operation Thanks From Above to honor the countless first responders, essential workers and medical personnel who have helped others throughout the pandemic. This year, the air show adopted a drive-in style arrangement, with each vehicle assigned a 20’ x 20’ square for viewing. The drive-in style seemed to be well-accepted by attendees; visitors spread out their blankets, chairs and food and picnicked next to their cars. Restrooms were spread out for social distancing and to eliminate long walks from vehicles. While most people brought their own food and drinks, food trucks were present on the field. ....
The Rainsville City Council on Monday held public hearings to discuss the rezoning of Ranch Road, Peaceful Acres subdivision and Britany Owens subdivision. Mayor Rodger Lingerfelt said notices were sent out to adjoining land residents and opened the floor for discussion. Housing partners John McCallie and Carlton W. Edwards of Scottsboro attended the hearing with an interest in the rezoning of Ranch Road from M-1 Industrial to R-3 Residential. âWe have a contract to purchase this property and have requested the rezoning,â said McCallie. âOur purchase of the properties contingent with the Alabama Boys and Girls Sheriff Ranches. He said they plan on building a âlittle bit more upper scale homesâ on larger size lots. ....

Because of travel restrictions, the annual inspection, which would have been conducted by new NJROTC Area 8 Commander Michael Mullen, was instead conducted by Baldwin County Schools Superintendent Eddie Tyler. “On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to say how proud I am of this group of students,” Tyler said, “who have set and are already achieving their goals. They are a testament to their communities and a prime example of what is being accomplished here in Central Baldwin County.” ....
