Despite 41 points from Allen, Huskers fall to Penn State 86-83

February 23, 2021
Teddy Allen had one of the best individual performances in program history against Penn State on Tuesday night.
But even that wasn’t enough to give Nebraska a victory.
Allen ended up tying Aleks Maric for the second-most points by a Husker with 41 while adding eight rebounds and a career-high six assists.
As good as he was, though, the Nittany Lions found one way after another to top him and handed NU an 86-83 defeat at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Along with Allen’s record-setting night, Nebraska shot 53.6 percent from the field and 48 percent from behind the arc as a team.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Teddy Allen set a Pinnacle Bank Arena & Nebraska men’s basketball home game record with 41 points but the Huskers lost to Penn State on Tuesday night, 86-83.
Allen ended up one point short of the single-game NU record of 42 set by Eric Piatkowski in 1994. Trey McGowens added 17 points for the Big Red. McGowens had a chance to tie the game with less than ten seconds remaining but his three point attempt missed.

Penn State Nittany Lions Defeat Nebraska Cornhuskers 86-83 Men's Hoops

Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports
One of the most outstanding individual scoring performances in Nebraska Cornhuskers’ basketball history was not enough to overcome a hefty rebounding disadvantage, another rash of turnovers, and a flurry of 3-pointers as Penn State (8-12 overall, 5-12 B1G) defeated Nebraska (5-16, 1-13) 86-83 at Pinnacle Bank Arena Tuesday night.
Despite playing on the losing side, junior guard Teddy Allen played the game of his college career, setting multiple school records in the process:
41 points, tying Aleks Maric for the most ever for a Husker in the regular season, just a point short of Eric Piatkowski’s school record 42 in a 1994 Big 8 tournament win over Oklahoma.
