Italian MotoGP: Pramac team extends Ducati contract | MotoGP

Pramac to continue as a Ducati satellite team for the next three seasons.
Pramac has officially confirmed that it will continue to as a 'Factory-supported' Ducati team for the next three years.
The expected deal continues a partnership that began back in 2005 and, since 2020, has seen both of the Pramac riders not only under direct contract to the factory but also racing with the latest Desmosedici machinery.
The Pramac team has also been used by Ducati to groom potential Official team riders, with Andrea Iannone, Danilo Petrucci and now Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia promoted from Pramac to Factory.
Despite many podiums, Pramac is yet to win a MotoGP race with Ducati (although it did win races while running Makoto Tamada at Honda Pons).

Portimao MotoGP: Aleix Espargaro matches Aprilia best, 'podium this year' | MotoGP

"We have a good bike, good balance, but we still need the last step of competitiveness."
For comparison, Espargaro had been 16sec from victory on his way to eighth place in last November's Portimao race.
"[Eight seconds] can feel like it's a big step, but it's not like this," he said. "The difference between every rider and every machine in MotoGP every time is smaller and smaller. So last year we were not that bad, and this year we are not that good.
"But we are a little bit more close, also my feeling with the bike is a bit better, so my confidence increased. So it's like a circle, step by step you are closer to the top guys.

Renault is reportedly going to make changes in management and a key pawn in those changes is Davide Brivio. Known in MotoGP as the success manager, but unknown to many Formula 1 followers. Why should Alpine F1 fans cheer when this move is made official?
Changes at Alpine F1
Renault has not been able to continue the upward trend in recent years under Cyril Abiteboul. That last step to the top cannot be made and in recent years the team has even been passed by customer McLaren and Racing Point. Under a new name (Alpine F1 Team), Renault also seems to find time for management changes.

Smith or Savadori Aprilia MotoGP decision 'not based on pure results' | MotoGP

It was decided that the fairest approach was to award the 2017 Factory bike to the rider scoring the most points over the remaining rounds of 2016, but that meant each rider became fixated on beating the other and they eventually clashed on track.
While not at risk of losing any points, Aprilia's situation carries a twist in that Smith and Savadori will be 'auditioning' for the race place while carrying out essential early development work on the new RS-GP.
Assuming no additional private tests, the pair will be on track for the Sepang Shakedown and Official Test in February, followed by the Qatar Test, where the new season is currently set to begin on March 28.
