NEW YORK (CNS) -- The goal of a film bearing the title "Godzilla vs. Kong" (Warner Bros.) would seem to be simple enough. Set the iconic beasts raging at each other until at least one Asian city has been devastated, then roll the credits.
Alas, not content with such a straightforward aim, screenwriters Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein entangle their showdown in the varied strands of interaction among an ensemble cast. The unintended upshot is that the outsized brutes prove a good deal more interesting than the puny humans.

BISMARCK, N.D. (CNS) -- The University of Mary's Marek Dojs sees a lot of symbolism in decorating Easter eggs in the Pysanky Slavic style, and as he teaches his students the ancient folk art, he ties in its spiritual aspects.

NEW YORK (CNS) -- Clever but morally misguided, "Nobody" (Universal) is a bloody action flick that's suitable for no one.
When thieves break into his suburban home, mild-mannered accountant Hutch Mansell (Bob Odenkirk) gets the drop on the intruders but fails to follow through on the advantage he's gained. As a result, his already distant wife, Becca, (Connie Nielsen) seems more disappointed in him than ever and his teen son Blake (Gage Munroe) disdains him as a coward.

Echoes. Impenetrable darkness. Published 4/2/2021

''From noon on, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon" (Mt 27:45).
"When it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon" (Mk 15:33).
"It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, while the sun's light failed" (Lk 23:44).
All three synoptic Gospel writers mention it in their accounts of Jesus' crucifixion. And while I suppose it could be that Matthew, Mark, and Luke took a bit of dramatic license or used the device to make a theological point, medieval Christians counted this detail of the Passion as a miracle, and some scholars argue that a handful of ancient historians seem to corroborate that an unusual darkness occurred around 33 AD. Interesting, right?
