Weekend bomb threats resulted in the closure of two museums here in Connecticut. The Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme and the Mystic Seaport Museum in Mystic were both closed on Saturday after police say bomb threats were received. Additionally, the New Britain Museum of American Art canceled its gala on Saturday night out of an abundance of caution, but did not receive any threats. The two threats that were received were found not to be credible. Police have not confirmed whether the bomb threats were related.

A tractor trailer that was carrying 40 cows overturned on Interstate 84 in Newtown early this morning. It happened near Exit 10 on the westbound side of the interstate…. shutting down the off-ramp… today at around 3:30am. The driver of the truck was not hurt. No word yet on the fate of the cattle.

Hudson Valley Honor Flight – Mission 31 will depart this Saturday morning at 6:30 from New York Stewart International Airport in Orange County to Washington DC. On board will be veterans from World War II, The Korean War, The Cold War, and The Vietnam War… including 4 veterans from Putnam County. They will return Saturday evening at 8:30. There will be a total of 85 veterans on this flight.

Connecticut’s annual crime statistics report for 2022 was released on Monday. Prepared by the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection’s Crime Analysis Unit, the annual report compiles data on crimes reported to law enforcement agencies in the state during each calendar year. The report shows that Connecticut continues to be one of the safest states in the country. Between 2021 and 2022, Connecticut experienced a 4% reduction in overall crime. Over the last ten years overall crime in Connecticut has fallen 26%.
