Anniversary of the arrival of captive africans in north america. Today is one of reflection and one of celebration. We are gathered in the front lawn of an historic institution, the oldest Cultural Organization of the commonwealth. For 200 years weve been collecting materials for the purpose of telling the story of this place. Some 14 million artifacts are housed in the walls behind me. We have much to be proud of.
