UFC releases three more fighters, including Antonio Carlos Junior

The UFC is continuing to downsize its roster having recently cut three more fighters, including middleweight contender Antonio Carlos Junior.
The 30-year-old Junior was handed his walking papers alongside welterweight fighters Carlton Minus and Rhys McKee, per MMA Junkie.
Junior last fought at UFC 257 in January, when he lost a decision to Brad Tavares. That setback was preceded by a pair of decision losses to high-level foes in Uriah Hall and Ian Heinisch. Prior to his three recent losses, Junior was on a five-fight streak highlighted by victories over solid foes like Marvin Vettori and Tim Boetsch. While the Brazilian remains a tough out for most middleweights in the sport, his three fight skid was evidently enough for the UFC to send him packing.

Highly touted Tafon Nchukwi was forced to go the distance for the first time as a pro, but he impressed in his UFC debut, as he shut out fellow Dana White’s Contender Series alum Jamie Pickett in a middleweight bout.
Scores were 30-25 and 30-26 twice for Nchukwi, now 5-0. Pickett falls to 11-5, 1 NC.
Nchukwi was throwing hammers in the early going, but Pickett eluded any danger and got a solid point-scoring takedown midway through the frame. Nchukwi got up quickly and went back to work, bloodying his foe while eluding any more trips to the mat.

The final UFC card of the year features an intriguing lineup of fights headlined by welterweights Stephen Thompson and Geoff Neal from the APEX Facility in Las Vegas.
It's a matchup between one of the mainstays of the division in Thompson and an up-and-coming Neal looking to prove himself to be in the top five. The 30-year-old Neal has left a path of destruction as he works his way into bigger and better fights, while Thompson has two title fights and eight years of competing in the Octagon.
The rest of the main card is a fun one, too. Jose Aldo and Marlon "Chito" Vera will meet in the co-main event. Vera is another rising contender in his division, with Aldo playing the role of accomplished veteran opponent.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to stage its final event of 2020 as UFC Vegas 17 goes down later tonight (Sat., Dec. 19, 2020) inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. The ESPN+-streamed event will feature a Welterweight bout between Stephen Thompson and Geoff Neal. In the co-main event, Jose Aldo will face Marlon Vera in a pivotal Bantamweight match up.

On less than a week’s notice, Christos Giagos is seizing his chance to fight before the end of the year.
People with knowledge of the new matchup confirmed to MMA Fighting that Giagos (17-8) will fight Carlton Minus (10-2, 1 NC) at UFC Vegas 17 on Saturday. Giagos replaces Rick Glenn, who was pulled from the matchup after testing positive for COVID-19.
Glenn’s withdrawal and Giagos’ involvement were first reported by BJPenn.com.
Giagos is making up for last time after an injury forced him out of an April 25 booking against Alan Patrick. “The Spartan” most recently fought in August 2019, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Drakkar Klose at UFC 241. His UFC record sits at 3-4 across two separate stints with the promotion.

Kevin Holland is one of the hottest names at 185 lbs. after knocking out Ronaldo Souza with a punch from his back (WATCH IT!) last weekend at UFC 256 to secure his fifth straight win in 2020. Holland did his best to call out Khamzat Chimaev, but as the bout appears unlikely to materialize, “Trail Blazer” did the next best thing by recently talking some trash to Derek Brunson and his “awkward” striking.
Holland only recently began targeting Brunson as his next opponent, but he still took to Twitter today to follow up.
