Delaware News Journal After coming down from a winter peak, the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Delaware is rising again, but the number of reported COVID-19 deaths remains low. The state on Sunday reported 158 hospitalizations, its most since Feb. 26. Hospitalizations fell from a high of 474 on Jan. 12 to 83 on March 11 before rising again. The seven-day average for new cases in Delaware is 335. Delaware on Saturday reported its highest average since Feb. 13. The last time Delawareans were testing positive for COVID-19 at a rate as high as they are now was Feb. 11. At the same time, the state is reporting relatively few COVID-19 deaths. Over the past two weeks, Delaware has reported six deaths. The number of deaths in March was the fewest in a month in Delaware since September. ....
Robert Johnson was initially nervous about getting the COVID-19 vaccine. But when the resident at New Castle County s Hope Center saw President Joe Biden get his shot, Johnson decided he should get one, too. “In the end, I’ve come to the decision that if the president could get it and he didn’t turn into a zombie, I think I’m going to be OK,” said Johnson, a South Carolina resident who has called the former Sheraton hotel turned long-term shelter home since it opened in December. “If it was good enough for Joe Biden, it is good enough for me,” he said. ....
