This week on lectures in history, Carlton Basmajian talks about the northwest ordinance which was an act of congress to organize and governed the newly acquired territory from the ohio river to the mississippi. He describes the 18th Century National planning effort which divided the territory into a grid pattern, and proposed a Transportation Network of roads and canals.
