Passengers on board that flight. All of them made it back here safely. The passengers bound from oakland to chicago knew there were problems after the 6 00 a. M. Takeoff. We heard what sounded like a gun pop, pop, pop, and then saw flames. The whole side of the plane lit up. Right at takeoff, when the landing gear was coming up, it was difficult. You heard a lot of noise that sounded terrible. Reporter the flight crew came out and said there was a problem with the landing gear. They knew the situation was serious.
