Its on a major thoroughfare, but people dont know very much about its history. And it has a fascinating history and it was a story that needed to be told. Colorado experienced a gold rush in 1859 when gold was discovered in the mountains. 1859 is when denver was founded. It was just a wild west town. It basically consisted of a tent city with lots of saloons and bore del lows. The miners would come down from the mountains with their bags of gold dust and go into the saloons. And in the saloons, the bartenders would reach their hands into the gold dust bags and take out a pinch of gold to pay for the miners whiskey. So clearly having fat fingers was a major job requirement for a bartender in early denver. But a city cant really survive on ....

He was going to get he was actually going to do an interview and had a little time, so he came by for a cup of coffee. We were sitting in my office that morning when we had the television on and watched a plane fly into the first tower of the trade center and i remember very clearly johns reaction. I said, did you see that . A pilot just flew into the world trade center. He said pilots dont fly into buildings that wasnt a pilot. And thats how it started. We went then to a leadership meeting. Shortly after that, thinking that it had to have been an accident, we turned on the monitors. We were going to begin our preparation for the days activities and work, and then began to watch the scene unfold. And i remember at one point, senator patty murray, who was sitting at the table, looked out and saw smoke billowing and she ran over to the window and she said, my god, theres smoke coming from the pentagon. So we all jumped to our feet and went over to the window to watch what little we could ....
