Illegal fireworks and celebratory gunshots. Police started receiving calls hours before the new year. Like last year they had increased presence on the streets, but this year they tried something new. Employing that increased staffing to hot spots or areas in the past that have had an increase of gunfire as well as fireworks activity. And they will respond to those calls.
