The National Museum of health and medicine was founded in 1862 and known as the Army Medical Museum and the mission was to collect specimens of morbid anatomy and send them to washington to study to improve the care of the soldier. At the time of the civil war the museums staff were doing the business of Lessons Learned. They were trying to understand the nature of Battlefield Medicine, and trauma and share it with their counterparts on the battlefield. This museum and its collection started during the war and in the early days, the museum was housed in the Surgeon Generals office. For. We are also following a close call for philadelphia firefighters today. Two of them went to the hospital after a ladder made contact with power lines. Now, this afternoon we know more about both men and the extent of their injuries. David henry live at temple hospital where one of those firefighters is still being treated right now david. Reporter yeah, brian one of the firefighters has checked out okay. The other firefighter will have to spend the night here at the hospital for treatment of third degree burns to his foot. Two lucky men who survived a very close call today. This could have been a much worse minute when you incident when you think about the. It happened on the 2400 block of west norris street around 10 oclock this morning.
